Founded in 1979, the IU Indianapolis Center for Young Children has grown from a three-classroom daycare for 35 children to a 14-classroom childcare facility with a licensed capacity of 280.
The CYC opened a dedicated facility in August 2000 and has expanded their programming to serve children from six weeks to five years of age with a focus on hands-on learning. The STEM program was established in 2015 for children ages 4-5 and gives students a head start in science, technology, engineering, and math. Field trips allow children to see the things they are learning applied in real-life situations.
The IU Indianapolis Center for Young Children is the culmination of the hard work of countless teachers, staff, and University administrators dating back to the 1970s and is a division of the IU Indianapolis Office of Auxiliary Services.
