Classroom Assistants


Macy Balcom

Macy has worked for the CYC since May 2014. She is currently studying Early Childhood Education at Ivy Tech. Arts and crafts are her favorite things to do in her spare time. She likes “to keep everything happy and friendly all the time”.

Vinny Bhupatkar

Vinny joined the CYC in the fall of 2015. She has a Bachelor’s degree in psychology and her early childhood diploma as well. She is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in English Language Literature. She loves working with kids because it gives her the opportunity to make a real impact on their lives during their earliest development. Seeing them grow is the best benefit of the job.

Kennedy Brackin

Kennedy is a sophomore at IUPUI studying elementary education with a dual license in special education. With this, she hopes to teach developmental preschool or life skills at the high school level. She enjoys photography, volunteering at a local food pantry, and bowling.

Adam Bustamante

Adam joined the CYC in the summer of 2015. Since then he has been promoted to afternoon assistant for one of the wee school rooms. He is currently working on his prerequisite classes at Ivy Tech and plans to transfer to IUPUI to pursue a degree in Education Policy in the future. Adam loves attending live music events, spending time with his family and catching up on his sleep.

Adria Crawford

Adria started at the CYC in the fall of 2010. She has really enjoyed her time spent here watching the students who were in her two year old classroom mature into little people and leave the center as they go to elementary school. Adria loves to spend time with her family. She is the mother of boy/girl twins.

Lydia Cummins

Lydia has been working at the CYC since the summer of 2014. She is the morning assistant for a wee school room. Lydia enjoys being outside and playing sports. In the future she is planning on pursuing her degree in elementary education with a concentration on physical education.

Alexis Ferrell

‘Lexi’ has worked for the CYC since spring of 2012. She has her CDA in Preschool and is working towards an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Ivy Tech. In her free time she enjoys singing, dancing, and playing the violin. She also enjoys family time, watching movies and writing.

Emily Guinn

Emily is an Elementary Education major at IUPUI. She has worked for the Center for Young Children since early 2015. Currently she is the afternoon assistant teacher in one of the multi-age rooms.

Carolyn Kratowicz

Carolyn has worked for the CYC since 2012. She was born in Chicago, but has called Indianapolis ‘home’ for a few years. She is currently a student at IUPUI studying Exercise Science. She enjoys road trips with her two daughters. Her other interests include gardening, crafting and attending concerts.

Jeremy Maxwell

Jeremy began working for the CYC in November 2015 as a STEM Teacher's Assistant. He received his bachelor's degree in History and Museum Studies from IUPUI. He developed a passion for early education while working at the Children's Museum of Indianapolis after graduating. In his spare time, Jeremy plays the drums and enjoys reading.

Kylee Ort

Kylee came to the CYC in the fall of 2015. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Health and Fitness and her Master’s degree in Athletic Training. Along with her potion at CYC she also works as an athletic trainer. In her free time she can typically be found at some sort of athletic event; watching, working or participating.

Sierra Travis

Sierra is currently a senior here at IUPUI and is completing her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a Criminal Justice minor. She plans on continuing her education and attend Law School to practice family law. She has worked with children for more than ten years.

Resa Underwood

Resa has been working at the CYC since 2003. She enjoys working with children. She has completed some college course work and her child care credential. She is planning on pursuing a Business degree in Finance in the near future. Her hobbies include: reading, painting and singing.

Danielle Williams

Danielle is a multi-age teaching assistant. She started at the CYC in 2003. She has been learning about and teaching early childhood education for 25 years. Her motto is: “You never stop learning ways to understand early childhood”. Danielle enjoys early childhood because they are tomorrow’s future. She is a family oriented wife and mother. Her hobbies include: reading, shopping, cooking and watching documentaries.

Ashley Young

Ashley joined the CYC in January of 2015. She is currently a radiology student with IU School of Medicine’s program here at IUPUI. Ashley is married and has a daughter. She loves to spend time with her family having adventures in the park and exploring Indianapolis.
